MAX/MSP Multimedia Software Class From A Unique Performers Perspective
I have presented successful classes on the computer and MAX/MSP software at the Hartt School in West Hartford, Connecticut and at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore. MAX/MSP by Cycling '74 is multi-media software that I have been interacting with since the early 1990's in my performances. I have even created my own work, VIDEOCELLO, an interactive video improvisation for e-cello and computer. I have used this software in many ways both practical and aesthetical. From the beginning I saw the potential to harness very complicated technology in live performance extending the capabilities of the e-cello. All of my best collaborations and repertoire for the e-cello has been composed using MAX/MSP. In my class I offer a step by step progression of how I use the computer and software from a unique point of view. I present my traveling studio setup, realtime MIDI, complex electronic scores and alternative performance scores. Works by Kaija SAARIAHO, Anna RUBIN, Michael GATONSKA, John CAGE and Jeffrey KRIEGER. Feel free to email me about your questions and possible presentations.
